Besan ke ladoo

Diwali celebrations are incomplete without tray loads of mouth watering authentic, Indian sweets. One of the easiest recipes to make for Diwali is the Besan ke ladoo or the sweet meatballs made of gram flour. Liked by children and adults alike, besan ke lodoos dissolve in mouth. These ladoos are one of the sweet treats, which is why they are never enough.

Serves : 5 People

Cooking time : 30 Minutes


  • 500 gm besan / Gram Flour
  • Powdered sugar
  • Dry fruits : Almonds, cashew nuts and raisins
  • Cardamom powder
  • Ghee to roast the besan
  • Sliver foil (optional)

Method :

  • Dry roast the Gram flour or Besan
  • As it browns, add ghee, stirring continuously
  • Once the ghee mixes well and emits a nutty fragrance, switch off the stove
  • While the besan is still hot, mix in the powdered sugar
  • Mix in the dry fruits too
  • Let the mixture cool down

Making the ladoos:

  • Once the besan mix has cooled down, you are ready to make the ladoos
  • Oil your palm with ghee
  • Scoop out a little portion of the besan mix and start rolling them into ladoos
  • In case the ladoos break while shaping them, refrigerate the mixture for about half an hour
  • You may now cover the ladoos with silver foil, for presentation
